The Walk In Art Center has identified a growing need in the community and is excited to open its own custom framing shop. The Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting will be held on November 7, 2020 at 12:00 pm at the Walk In Art Center, 220 Parkway, Schuylkill Haven.
“The artists of the WIAC have wanted to have an in-house custom framing shop for several years,” says Executive Director, Jacqueline Engel. With limited framing options in the area, and an opportunity to purchase stock and equipment at a price that was too good to pass up, the WIAC has jumped into the framing business with both feet.
“It will be just in time for the holidays. Framed family photos and artwork are often the most cherished gifts of the season,” quotes Engel.
Walk In Art Center Associate Artist, Pablo Culp, has had many years of experience working in a frame shop in Philadelphia and has taken over the project. He says that having an “artist’s eye” is a great asset and he can offer creative solutions and a personal touch.
“Artists can offer an understanding of the relationship between a frame and the art,” says Culp. “Framing can enhance and it’s an assured way of protecting it and leaving a lasting impression for generations.”
The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will be facilitated by the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce and will coincide with the WIAC’s First Saturday Studio Walk. Refreshments will be served in the lobby and throughout Studio Row.
The Frame Shop at the Walk In Art Center will be open by appointment and you can schedule a visit by calling 570-732-3728 ext. 305.
