What is the Festival of Trees?
The inaugural WIAC Festival of Trees was held in 2020, and despite the pandemic’s impact on events, the festival raised over $2000 for various non-profit art groups. The festival runs for two weeks and ends at the annual Holiday Artisan Market. This year’s festival will run from November 18th through December 2th and all area non-profits, civic organizations, student associations, and church groups are invited to participate.
The Walk In Art Center is aglow with dozens of beautifully decorated trees in different themes and colors. People are invited to visit weekdays from 9am to 4pm and on Saturdays from 1-5pm. It’s a great opportunity to take family photos surrounded by trees or just spend the day getting yourself into the holiday spirit.
How can you earn money for your organization?
Create an amazing display and have your friends and family come and vote for your tree! 1/2 of the money from the votes goes to the organization. The tree with the most votes wins a bonus $200. 2nd most votes gets a bonus $100.
Each tree will be part of a silent auction and the winning bid for your tree goes right to your organization.
The winning organization in 2022 took home nearly $500 for their organization.
How to be successful:
Think outside the box! It can be a beach themed tree with shells and starfish, or maybe a mardi gras tree with feather masks. Why not decorate for your favorite sports fan? And it doesn’t only have to be tree decorations! Create a scene for maximum effect.
Don’t spend a ton of money. Go to the dollar tree or visit orientaltrading.com for interesting cheap ideas. Create decorations from scratch instead of buying expensive balls or ornaments.
Get a sponsor to help with the registration costs and expenses, then display their logo on your tree to say thanks.
